Doing The Work

Humberto Borges has been working together with the Marietta Police Department for years.

With MPD's help, we have developed a comprehensive system for law enforcement officers to apply Jiu-Jitsu in their day-to-day lives.

Having taught countless students with backgrounds both in law enforcement and the armed forces, Professor Borges used their feedback to go about refining a program to fit the needs of these personnel.

With the help of Major Jake King, we have managed to take important steps forward, culminating in the creation and implementation of a program specifically designed for all incoming MPD recruits. Currently, all recruits are required to train for a minimum of six(6) months before being able to graduate and go on to become an officer. Just this change alone has shown promising results, with less injuries to both officers and community members, which is the top priority.

It also had the added benefit of saving the department money, much more than the cost of the program.

Today, both men continue to work diligently to expand this program across the state of Georgia and, hopefully, one day make this training mandatory across the country.
